Mechanical Engineer

Position Summary This position is for a Mechanical Engineer, or other Engineering discipline, to perform Design, Systems, Program, Plant Component or Nuclear engineering activities in support of the safe, reliable and efficient operations of the nuclear generation power plants. Primary responsibilities include the development of plant modifications, calculations, engineering evaluations, operability determinations, maintenance of design basis documents and resolution of Corrective Action Issues. Troubleshooting of plant equipment and systems are an essential part of the role of this position. Additional responsibilities include performance of Predictive Maintenance (PdM) activities to ensure equipment reliability of plant components and consists of vibration monitoring, thermography, ultrasonic testing, and other PdM activities as needed. Essential Responsibilities Development of plant modifications or plant program documents or overseeing performance of assigned systems or complex troubleshooting of nuclear power plant systems, calculations, engineering evaluations, operability determinations, maintenance of design basis documents, resolution of Corrective Action issues, support of continued plant operation, assessment of adverse conditions and project management. Collect and analyze Predictive Maintenance data to ensure continued equipment excellence. Develop schedules, utilize work management tools, perform assignments for engineering related activities to support site and fleet goals. Perform other duties and activities as assigned. Attend Department and plant meetings and industry/fleet activities. Attend Training. Other duties and/or projects as assigned by department leadership. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field from an ABET accredited college or university. 6 years of engineering experience with satisfactory performance in nuclear generating plant operations and or maintenance processes is required; equivalent electrical power plant experience industrial, naval or Outreach Engineering Management (OEM) is acceptable in lieu of nuclear generation experience. Ability to obtain and maintain qualifications for unescorted access to Xcel Energy's nuclear power plants is an essential requirement of the position. May be required to assume emergency response duties and live within 30 or 60 minutes from the nuclear generation station. Required to maintain nuclear fitness for duty during off hours if on call or designated emergency response duty. Preferred Professional Engineer (PE) license. SRO License or certification. Advance degree (in engineering or other related technical field).
Salary Range:
$80K -- $150K
